Will Pelican Imaging change photography forever?

I think this type of hyper-focal imaging tech will bring as yet unimagined possibilities into photography. Remember when the idea of a Digital SLR was ridiculous, because CCD’s didn’t have the dynamic range or resolution to compete with film? Next, consider how over time, each problem was addressed in a novel way: High Dynamic Range images not only solved the well depth problem, but brought a new wave of photographic style. Resolution was improved as the technology matured, but stitching of images addressed the resolution problem in a different way.

So, is this technology going to render the “single sensor” camera obsolete? Only time will tell, but there are some VERY novel things one can do with a camera system like this….
