The reality of “explosive decompression” on large aircraft

·

This is a bit personal for me as I’ve flown this exact flight numerous times when working for a Tucson-based company. This flight experienced explosive decompression, which basically means the pressure-holding chamber (the aircraft cabin) lost it’s ability to contain said pressure, and released it rapidly. Two points to note:

1. Basically, no one was injured

2. The flight crew executed the emergency procedures quickly and properly, reducing the risk to the passengers and crew.

Here’s the video after the airplane made an emergency landing.
