If you perform offline analysis on image data acquired in Elements, you probably have found that working with the ND 2 file in any other application can be touch and go. Luckily, Nikon provided a very robust save function in Elements that writes TIFF files directly to hard disk. Here’s how to use it:
1. Open the Edit menu, and select the last item on the list, Options.
2. Select the “General” section from the list on the left side window, then check the box labeled “Enabled Saving ND Experiment as TIFF series”.
3. Note the TIFF options, this is important as it’s recommended to set your images as mono 16 bit per image, no scaling changes.
4. Click OK. Next open the “Acquire ND Sequence” window. Note that once you select “save to file” you’ll have a “Save as TIFF series” checkbox. Checking this box will now create a TIFF series, located in an auto-updated folder name, for each experiment acquired. These images can then be easily imported into other analysis programs.
